April 1996	Consultant to State Department in Buea, Cameroon. Evaluated the curric ulum and programs of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Buea.
1990-2001	Coordinator of Statistical Consulting, Institute for Research in Social Science, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Supervise consulting staff; consult with faculty and graduate students with problems in statistical analysis, research design, and questionnaire construction. Guide graduate student thesis and dissertation research. Specialization in advanced methods, including structural equation modeling, time series designs, and analysis of media content.
1989 - 1990	Publications Coordinator, Institute for Research in Social Science, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Managing editor of Social Forces. Responsible for coordinating the production of the journal. Implemented computerization of the production process, from acceptance of "electronic manuscripts" to formatting articles using desk-top publis hing technology to printing camera-ready output on a high-resolution printer.
1988 - 1989	Senior Research Associate, Research and Evaluation Associates, Inc. Responsible for survey instrument design, sampling procedures, data management and analysis. Wrote and edited reports, insuring correspondence between analysis and conclusions.
1987 - 1988	Research Associate, Institute for Research in Social Science, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Responsible for coordinating state-wide Carolina Poll including survey instrument design and implementation on computer system, sample construction, interviewer training and data management. Acted as consultant to University researchers on research design, sampling, questionnaire design and data analysis.
1988, 1990	Visiting Assistant Professor, School of Journalism, University of North Carolina. Taught graduate seminars in mass communication theory and advanced media research methods, directing advanced graduate students in their research.
1986 - 1987	Project Associate, Wisconsin Center for Education Research, University of Wisconsin—Madison. Studied the relationship between order and achievement in the American high school.

1975 - 1976	Editor and Circulation Manager, The Market Place, a community shopping guide, Danville, Virginia. Designed and managed circulation, and later ran publication.
1971	Census Taker, Community Improvement Council, Danville, Virginia. Worked as an interviewer in a census of the city's poverty areas.
